Descriere

MBX Reach is an email marketing service for people who write to an audience: newsletters, releases, announcements. This plugin puts one of your MBX Reach signup forms on your WordPress site.

  • A block, „MBX Reach signup form”: pick the form, the button text and whether to ask for a first name, and see the real form in the editor.
  • A shortcode for everywhere else: [mbxreach form="frm_0123456789abcdef01234567" button="Subscribe" name="yes"], with your own form’s id. In the block editor it goes in a Shortcode block; a Code block only shows the text.
  • A default form id under Settings → MBX Reach, so blocks and shortcodes can leave the id out, and a list of the other form ids authors may use.
  • WooCommerce, when you want it: paste an API key and a list id under Settings → MBX Reach and a box „Keep me posted by email” appears at the checkout, unticked. Buyers who tick it get an email asking them to confirm when their order is paid or completed, and join that list with a tag („customer” unless you choose another) when they click; the purchase is recorded on their contact as an event, so a segment can find your buyers and an automation on that list can thank them. Works with the classic checkout and the block checkout, and with either way WooCommerce stores orders.

The form posts to mbxreach.com, so the list it feeds and the tags it applies are whatever the form has in your MBX Reach panel. A signup that comes from another site, as the plugin’s do, always confirms by email, whatever the list’s double opt-in setting: the visitor sees a page asking them to check their inbox and joins when they click, so the form’s own redirect and thank-you message are not shown for it. Each form also accepts a limited number of new signups an hour from other sites; past it, visitors are asked to try again later. A form needs nothing from this site: no key, no script from us on your pages, and nothing kept here but the form ids you set.

The WooCommerce part does keep things on your site, because it has to: the API key, the list id, the tag and whether orders with a total of zero count, in your site’s settings; and on each order, whether the buyer ticked the box, when, and what was sent for it. The buyer’s address goes to your MBX Reach account in the background, a moment after the order, so a slow answer never keeps a buyer waiting at the end of a purchase.

You need an MBX Reach account to use it: https://mbxreach.com/

External services

This plugin renders a form whose target is mbxreach.com, the email marketing service operated by MediaBoxEnt Technologies. When a visitor submits the form, their browser sends the email address they typed, the first name if you asked for one, and (as with any web request) their IP address and browser details to mbxreach.com, where the signup is recorded in the audience of the MBX Reach account that owns the form. Nothing is sent until the visitor presses the button; merely viewing a page with the form sends nothing to us.

With the WooCommerce option set up, your site also calls the MBX Reach API when an order is paid or completed and the buyer ticked the box: it sends the buyer’s email address, first name and last name, the list id and the tag you chose, the order number and your site’s address as the record of where the signup came from, and records an event named „purchase”. It sends nothing about the order’s contents or the payment, and nothing for a buyer who left the box unticked. Your site also calls the service when you save an API key or a list id, to tell you there and then whether the key works and whether the list is in your account.

  • MBX Reach signup form A signup form that adds people to your MBX Reach audience.

Instalare

  1. Install and activate the plugin.
  2. In your MBX Reach panel, open Signup forms and copy the id of the form you want (it starts with frm_).
  3. Either paste it under Settings → MBX Reach as the default, or put it in the block or the shortcode on the page.
  4. In the block editor, add the „MBX Reach signup form” block, or a Shortcode block with the line from the form’s page in your panel. A Code block shows the line as text instead of the form.
  5. For the WooCommerce box, paste an API key and the id of the list buyers should join under Settings → MBX Reach. The key is created under Integrations → API keys in your panel, in the plans that include the API: give it the contacts:add scope.

Întrebări frecvente

Where do I find the form id?

In your MBX Reach panel, under Signup forms, open the form: its page shows the id and the hosted address.

Can visitors confirm by email first?

They always do. A signup from another site is confirmed by the person clicking the email MBX Reach sends, whether or not the list asks for double opt-in, so nobody can put an address on your list that its owner did not confirm.

Do buyers at the checkout confirm by email too?

Yes. A buyer who ticks the box is asked to confirm by email, whatever the list’s double opt-in setting, and joins the list you chose when they click; the order says so. An address typed into a checkout has not been confirmed by the person it belongs to, and this way nobody can put someone else’s address on your list by buying something.

What about free orders?

An order with a total of zero sends nothing, unless you tick „Send buyers of orders with a total of zero” under Settings → MBX Reach. A free product or a full discount would otherwise let anyone push any address through your checkout without paying.

What does the plugin keep on my site?

For the forms, only the form ids you set. For WooCommerce, the API key, the list id, the tag and whether free orders count, in your site’s settings; and on each order, whether the buyer ticked the box, when they ticked it, and when their address was sent. Deleting the plugin removes the settings. The record on each order stays, because it is that order’s proof of consent, and your API key stays valid in MBX Reach until you revoke it in your panel.

What API key does it need?

One with the contacts:add scope, which can only add contacts: it cannot read, unsubscribe or delete them. Make a key for this site alone, give it an expiry, and allow only your server’s IP address. A key with contacts:write works too, but it can do far more than this site needs. If you remove the integration, or the site is ever compromised, revoke the key in your panel: deleting the plugin does not.

What happens if an order is refunded or cancelled?

The buyer stays on the list. They asked to hear from you, and a refund does not take that back. Remove them in your MBX Reach panel if you would rather they were not there.

Who can place a form?

Anyone who edits posts can place the default form and the other form ids an administrator lists under Settings → MBX Reach. Any other form id shows only in content by someone allowed to publish unfiltered HTML (administrators and editors on a single site), so an author cannot collect your visitors into an MBX Reach account of their own. In a widget, a footer or a template part there is no post author to ask, and those are edited by whoever administers the site, so a form id there renders.

Does the plugin style the form?

A few lines, so it looks tidy out of the box: a row with the fields and the button, in MBX Reach’s colour. Override .mbxreach-form in your theme to match your site.

Does it load anything from mbxreach.com on my pages?

No. It renders plain HTML. The only request to mbxreach.com is the one the visitor makes by submitting the form.

Istoric modificări

1.2.1

Buyers who tick the box at the checkout are always asked to confirm by email before they join your list, whatever the list’s double opt-in setting, and the order says a confirmation email is on its way. Orders with a total of zero no longer add anyone, unless you allow them with a new setting. Saving a list id now checks that the list is in your account, and an order whose list id matches none of your lists says so. The settings page recommends a key that can only add contacts.

1.2.0

The box at the checkout and the WooCommerce settings are translated. Buyers are sent to your audience in the background, so nothing keeps them waiting after they pay, and an order that does not get through is tried again and says so on the order. Orders now tell you what happened: the buyer joined the list, was asked to confirm by email, had unsubscribed, or the list id matches no list of yours. Saving an API key checks it there and then. The key is no longer shown back to anyone who opens the settings page, and it can be forgotten from there. Compatibility with WooCommerce’s own order storage is declared. The plugin adds suggested wording to your site’s privacy policy and answers WordPress’s export and erase requests. A form placed in a widget or a footer no longer appears or disappears depending on who wrote the post on screen.

1.1.0

WooCommerce: a box at the checkout, and the buyers who tick it join a list of yours with a tag when the order is paid, with the purchase recorded on their contact. Set up with an API key and a list id under Settings → MBX Reach; nothing changes until you do.

1.0.10

Clearer steps on the settings page: where the shortcode goes in the block editor, and a complete example.

1.0.9

Authors can place only the default form and the ids an administrator allows; the alignment and CSS class set on the block reach the published page; the block’s default texts translate; the editor preview no longer submits; a mistyped id in Settings keeps the previous default; the hidden anti-spam field stays hidden without the stylesheet; uninstalling on a large network no longer walks every site in one request; and the readme says how signups from other sites confirm.

1.0.8

A block or shortcode with an empty form id shows the default form from Settings again, instead of nothing.

1.0.7

Deleting the plugin on a multisite network removes its setting from every site, and a form id followed by a line break is no longer accepted.

1.0.6

Require WordPress 6.3 (the block uses API version 3) and let the editor labels translate via language packs.

1.0.5

Harden the form-id check to the exact hosted format, add a direct-access guard to the asset manifest, and correct the note about where spam checks run.

1.0.4

  • The text domain is mbxreach, matching the directory slug.

1.0.2

  • The listing is credited to the account that publishes it.

1.0.1

  • The author link points at mediaboxent.tech, the company site.
  • Tested on WordPress 7.1.

1.0.0

  • First release: block, shortcode, default form id.
