Tag subscribers by the form they came from, and save extra answers, such as a company name, to your EmailFig custom fields.
What is EmailFig?
EmailFig is an email marketing service for newsletters and automated emails, free for up to 4,000 contacts. This plugin needs an account: sign up at emailfig.com.
External services
This plugin connects to EmailFig (https://emailfig.com) to list your forms and to add subscribers. Every request from your server carries your API key, and the plugin, WordPress and PHP versions.
- When you use the plugin’s settings or the block editor: your server reads your EmailFig account, forms, lists and custom fields. It reads your custom fields again once a day in the background. Showing a page to a visitor makes no request from your server.
- When a visitor ticks a subscribe checkbox and sends the form (for a comment, once it is approved): your server sends their email address, their name and any answers you mapped to EmailFig custom fields, the list and tags you chose, which form they used, their IP address and the time.
- On pages with an EmailFig form or popup: the visitor’s browser loads the form from EmailFig, and sends what they type into it to EmailFig. EmailFig forms show a small „Powered by EmailFig” link, which paid plans can turn off.

Instalare
- Install and activate the plugin.
- In EmailFig, go to Settings API keys and create a key.
- In WordPress, open EmailFig in the menu and paste the key.
- Add a form with the EmailFig form block, or set up checkboxes on the Subscribe checkboxes tab.

Will this slow my site down?

No. Your server never calls EmailFig while showing a page. Forms load in the visitor’s browser, so a slow or unreachable EmailFig can’t slow down or break a page.

How do I add the checkbox to Contact Form 7 or WPForms?

Turn it on under Subscribe checkboxes, then add it to each form that should ask. In Contact Form 7, put
[emailfig_subscribe]in the form. In WPForms, add a Checkboxes field and give it the CSS classemailfig-subscribe. The comment and registration forms need no extra step. -
Can I save other form fields, like a company name?

Yes, from Contact Form 7 and WPForms. Add a custom field in EmailFig, such as Company, then name the Contact Form 7 field
emailfig-company, or give the WPForms field that CSS class. The Subscribe checkboxes tab lists the name for each of your custom fields. -
What happens if EmailFig can’t be reached when someone signs up?

The comment or form still goes through. A comment signup is retried automatically, and any signup that doesn’t make it is listed on the Connection tab.

Can people confirm by email before they’re added?

Yes. Turn on confirmation for the list in EmailFig and every signup to it gets a confirmation email, from your site or anywhere else.

Is it GDPR friendly?

Yes. EmailFig gives you the tools to be GDPR compliant. Checkboxes start unticked, EmailFig records proof of consent, and lists can ask people to confirm by email. You are still responsible for your privacy policy and how you use your list.

Does it store personal data in WordPress?

Only a note on each comment where the box was ticked, recording the wording shown and when. WordPress’s privacy tools export and erase it with the comment, and deleting the plugin removes it.
